When a subscription is purchased, it is added to your account.

Active subscriptions can be viewed in “Subscriptions” under “Account Details”.

There is an option to choose between manual or automatic subscription renewals. If you are planning on keeping your subscription active for multiple months, choose automatic. If unsure, choose manual. When a subscription is under manual renewals you must renew the subscription yourself by clicking renew once your subscription has run out. 

By clicking cancel subscription, you are removing the subscription from your account and any left over time will not be taken into account. Therefore, if you are considering canceling a subscription permanently, switch to manual payments to let the time run out and not be charged again. Then cancel subscription to remove it from your account.
